These give you an idea of the type of funding previously offered by the organisation/institution. Why do you advertise awards from foreign countries? When we do this, we have checked that the awards are available to UK based researchers. It is increasingly the case that awards are available to anyone in the world as this helps to ensure that the grant giver is getting the best possible research for their money. An example of this policy is the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States. They identify health problems of relevance to the American public and then seek the best research (from anywhere in the world) to solve these problems. The UK is the most successful foreign country in gaining research funding from the NIH.
