NIH - National Institute of Mental Health

Health Behavior Change in People with Mental Disorders (R01) Details (Hits : 2040)

Last updated - 07 June 2010
Aims: The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) encourages studies on health behaviour change related to function, disability, morbidity, and mortality in people with mental disorders. An important goal of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to identify potent, modifiable risk and protective health behaviour factors amenable to intervention, and to translate the results of such studies into initial tests of theory-driven prevention and early intervention strategies aimed at improving function and decreasing disability, morbidity, and mortality among people with mental disorders. Risk and protective factors include biological, psychosocial, behavioural, and environmental contributors to health behaviours among people with mental disorders. It is incumbent upon the applicant to demonstrate the public health significance of the study by describing the severity and/or prevalence of the health behaviours, disability, morbidity, or mortality of the populations represented in the topics studied.
Description: PA-08-089. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will use the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism. The applicant will be solely responsible for planning, directing, and executing the proposed project. This FOA uses “Just-in-Time” information concepts. It also uses the modular as well as the non-modular budget formats.
*Type: Projects
*Duration: Unspecified
Funding: Usually up to $250,000 (approx £128,365). Applications that exceed this level must be submitted as a non-modular and provide detailed budget information.
*Amount: > £100K       (Estimated total funds: £128,365)
Closing Date: 05 October 2010 (multiple)
Comments: Applications submitted in response to this PA will be accepted on the standard receipt dates of 5th February, 5th June and 5th October. The closing date for applications applies to the submission of new research grants. For grant renewal, resubmission and revision please see their website. The expiration date is the 8th May 2011.
Restrictions: This call is open to UK researchers as an example of a Non-domestic Entity (i.e. a non-U.S. Foreign Organisation). Any individual(s) with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research as the PD/PI is invited to work with his/her organisation to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
