Small Grants Scheme
Description: The Association for the Study of Medical Education, which includes in its goals the promotion of high quality research into medical education, invites Members (including student Members) to submit a description of a piece of work, survey, research or innovation in teaching in the field of medical and healthcare education. The grants can be used for transcription costs. ASME welcomes submissions from new researchers.

Poverty, Inequality and Human Rights – do human rights frameworks make a difference?
Description: This project seeks to build the evidence base for how human rights frameworks have been drawn on to address poverty in contexts outside of the UK. In particular, it will consider how human rights frameworks have had an impact on policy formulation and implementation (process and policy substance), programmes and debate to address poverty in the domestic context. The primary audience for outputs will be third sector organisations working to address poverty and promote human rights, government, public bodies including the Equalities and Human Rights Commission and policy advisers from across the political parties. Medical Research Awards
Description: NACC will consider smaller or innovative projects as well as mainstream research. NACC also welcomes applications for projects to fund pilot studies (these grants are to enable an applicant to undertake work leading to a more formal application for funding of a full project by NACC or other grant-giving bodies). Independent Evaluation of the RCGP Primary Medical Care Provider Accreditation Scheme
Description: Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review has stated the Government's support for provider accreditation schemes, such as the Primary Medical Care Provider Accreditation Scheme (PMCPA), being developed by the RCGP. A team from the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre (NPCRDC) is working with the RCGP to develop the Scheme to be piloted with 40 providers over a six-month period from June to November 2008. Building on the internal, formative evaluation of the pilot scheme that NPCRDC will be undertaking for the RCGP during November to January 2009, the Department of Health is inviting proposals to undertake an independent evaluation of the PMCPA pilot over a six-month period following on from this.

Arts Awards (Large)
Description: All art forms are covered by the programme: dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media. Wellcome Trust invite applications for projects which engage adult audiences and/or young people. Projects should have some biomedical scientific input either through a scientist taking on an advisory role or through direct collaboration. Applicants are encouraged to investigate new methods of interdisciplinary working as well as new models of engagement in biomedical science.
Funding : Funding is for amounts over £30,000. Funding is for projects lasting a maximum of three years. This funding can be used to fund full or part production costs for large-scale arts projects that aim to have significant impact on the public's engagement with biomedical science. Wellcome Trust are also interested in supporting high-quality, multi-audience, multi-outcome projects.
