British Pain Society

Mildred B Clulow Award
Description: The British Pain Society invites proposals for the Mildred B Clulow research grant competition, which may be in any field of pain research. The funds may be awarded for a variety of purposes in support of a research project (e.g. small project grant, salary support, capital equipment purchase, running costs or additional funding to an existing grant). However, should a proposal request a proportion of the total costs of a research project then, in the event of an award, funds cannot be released until funds covering the full costs of the project are in place. Applications will be peer reviewed and a decision made by the British Pain Society Science and Research Committee.

Young Scientist Poster Competition
Description: For scientists submitting abstracts for the 2011 meeting being held in Gothenberg, Sweden between 26-29 June.
Funding : All 20 finalists will be invited to the International Evening during which the winners will be announced and awarded. Winners receive €500, all other finalists €250 each.

GBG Young Investigator Award

ECNP Fellowship Award
Description: This award will be presented to individuals engaged full-time in clinical or basic research, training or teaching activities in the field of neuropsychopharmacology and closely related disciplines. All applications will be reviewed by the ECNP Award Committee. The posters presented by the fellowship award winners will be reviewed for publication on their website. The awards will be presented during the welcome ceremony of the congress. The posters of the winners will be on permanent display in the ECNP Award area of the congress.

Distinguished Leader Award
Description: This is an award of high distinction that is conferred annually to an individual who has made sustained outstanding contributions to accomplishing the mission and advancing the objectives of the ISHR. The recipient is selected on the basis of a distinguished and consistent track record of major contributions to the Society. He/she will be recognized as a distinguished leader in the ISHR.
Funding : The Award will consist of an award medal and an honorarium of $1,000. The Award carries with it a requirement to attend the meeting at which the award will be presented. Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to a maximum of $1,500 [to include coach class travel and a maximum of 3 nights’ hotel accommodation] when the Award recipient is recognised at his/her own local Section meeting, and up to a maximum of $3,000 when inter-continental travel is required.

ONS Foundation Breast Cancer Research Grant (RE31)
Description: The agenda’s focus is on areas where gaps exist in the knowledge base for oncology nursing practice. Applications are invited for breast cancer grant proposals that address high-priority topic areas identified by the 2009 – 2013 ONS Research Agenda. RAEng/EPSRC Research Fellowships
Description: Research Fellowships provide support for high-quality engineers and encourage them to develop successful academic research careers. The scheme provides funding for five years to encourage the best researchers to remain in the academic engineering sector. In addition to the direct financial support, the scheme offers: * freedom to concentrate on basic research in any field of engineering * time to establish a track record in the field * the services of a mentor (a Fellow of The Academy) to offer advice and to facilitate industrial links as the research progresses * restrictions of your teaching and administrative duties.
